What happens to your work when someone leaves
Last updated October 20, 2026
Your workspace keeps your work and chats if you leave. Personal things are erased. This page says exactly which is which.
The short version
- Work you shared with other people stays where it is, and everyone who had it keeps it.
- Work you kept to yourself waits for an admin, who can hand it to a teammate or delete it. No one can open it while it waits.
- Your chats are kept for the workspace and are not shown to anyone in the app.
- Your personal things are erased.
This applies in a team workspace, where your team owns the work, whether you leave or delete your account. A personal space that only you use is deleted with your account. If you delete your account, what waits for an admin no longer carries anything that points to you, and none of it comes back to a new account.
Work you kept to yourself
Anything set to Just me waits in a “Left by” list on the Hand over page. Admins see how many items of each kind are waiting, never their names or what is in them. An admin can hand them to a teammate, who then owns them as Just me, or delete them. For 30 days after that an admin can put deleted work back in the list from the Hand over page, still unseen; then it is gone for good. If you are added back to the workspace with the same account, you get back what is still waiting.
This covers docs, designs, tables, files, folders, skills, custom modes and memory notes you wrote. It does not cover your agents or your chats, which are described next.
Your chats
Chats here are work chats. A chat you kept to yourself is kept by the workspace and never shown in the app to anyone, admins included. Only the workspace owner can download it, and every download is logged. A chat you shared stays shared. Anything a chat made, such as a doc or a file, follows the rules above for that kind of thing.
Agents
Every agent you owned gets a new owner when you leave, whoever it was shared with. If you had added people at Read and write, the one you added first takes it over, and a workspace admin is added at Read and write. People at Read only keep Read only. If nobody had Read and write, a workspace admin becomes the owner: the admin who removed you when Frosty knows who that was, otherwise the admin who joined the workspace first. You are taken off it.
The agent stops running and shows as a Draft that needs setup. Its new owner is told, with the apps it used. It turns back on only once the new owner has each of those apps connected, their own or one shared with them, from the Agents page, by asking Frosty, or in Slack. An agent that never ran turns on once the new owner confirms they have checked it. If it starts when something happens in an app, such as a new calendar event, turning it on sets that up again on the new owner’s own account.
Apps you signed in to with your own account are disconnected when you leave, even ones you shared with the team. Apps connected with a company key rather than your own sign-in stay connected and stay shared as they were. When Frosty cannot tell which kind an app is, it treats it as your own sign-in and disconnects it. An app connected with a company key that you had shared is then owned by the workspace: admins manage who can use it, and people at Read and writekeep Read and write. It cannot go back to Just me.
What is erased
- Your profile and settings.
- Your phones and notification choices.
- Your connected accounts. Frosty disconnects each one before your account goes.
- What Frosty learned about you.
- Your sign-in account.
Your personal space
If you also have a personal space that only you use, it is deleted with your account, with everything in it. A workspace where you are the only admin and other people are in it must be handed over first, or deleted, so it is never left without someone in charge.
Records that stay
Run history, approvals and credit use stay as workspace records, with your name shown as “former member”. What you typed into a run and what it returned is removed. Only the cost and the time of the run stay.
Before you delete
You can download a copy of your data first from Settings, on the Profile page, in the Delete account box. The same box shows how many things stay and how many are erased before you confirm. The steps are on the Delete your account page, and the legal detail is in the Privacy Policy. Questions: support@heyfrosty.ai.
